Hi friends and fellow crafters! What a great week of crafting it has been. This will be my final post for the Circleville NSD challenges. This challenge was all about perspective, or how you can make your die cuts more dimensional. The tutorial can be found at the very talented Nadia's Blog,
With Glittering Eyes, one of my favorite blogs to visit. I know I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating, stop by her blog when you have a chance. Take a look a round and make sure to click on her gallery, you won't be disappointed.
My first attempt at trying one of her techniques was my piggy easel card. I bent and popped the piggy's ears for more dimension. I also tried her idea to glue the piggy's head down, then bend and pop the legs. I also bent and popped the snout, just a little bit. I added lots of ink to the my little pig too. I just love how it turned out.
I already entered the piggy into a challenge, so I decided I needed to make a cut that used Nadia's techniques that would be just for her challenge. I made a card for my nephew and his future wife who are expecting my future great niece. well they say they are having a girl, but with all the boys in our family, I am not 100% sure that ultrasound was correct. LOL! I cut the cute little baby from New Arrival and used that for my card.
I cut the baby and the diaper out twice using white American Crafts cardstock. I colored the baby's skin using my copics, colors E0000, E000, E01, E93 and R20 for the cheeks. Then I cut the face, arms and feet away from one of the diapers. I used pop dots to add some dimension to the hand, behind the middle of the baby's head, and on the foot closest to the bottom. I also hand drew some little fingers, toes, and tried to dimple the baby's knees.
Here are a couple of views from the sides.
Due to needing to take care of some family issues, I wasn't able to fully embellish the card tonight. I hope to finish it in the morning and post more pictures of the complete project. Here is what it looks like right now.
Update! And here is what the card looks like finished!
I added lots of buttons to it! I computer generated the sentiment. I popped up 4 Flutterbys banner pieces on it. Flutterbys are paper garland that is made by Dear Lizzy. This is from the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection. Pretty cute, right?
I added a cute butterfly sticker from K & Company, then I blinged it up with Jolee's Crystals.
I love how it turned out! What a difference adding the extra dimension to the cut made. I will never go back to flat cuts again!
I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there. I wish you all a happy day.
Happy Crafting!
