And Finally! NSD Circleville Challenge: Did-I-MENSION

Hi friends and fellow crafters. As NSD week of challenges comes to a close, I couldn't resist entering one more challenge. Rockin' Renee challenged us to grab a cartridge and make a 3D object/box. Her blog, I Came, I Saw, I Created has some of the most unique boxes and paper art on it. It is a delightful blog and Renee has some great tutorials there. Stop by her blog and see for yourself!

I was looking at this box for the longest time on Artiste, trying to figure out what is was all about. LOL!
It's on page 65 of the handbook.

It is a perfect box for a place card holder, or for a picture pick. I made it for my Mother In Law as a little extra with her Mother's Day Present. She was at a camper this weekend, so we will be seeing her on Tuesday. I may switch out the banner and get a floral pick that holds the cards, then put her gift card in it.

I altered it just a little bit. I used Graphic 45 French Country Papers on it. The paper has a great design, but the flower stamen didn't look right, so I cut a second box from CTMH Dotty For You Yellow paper and cut the stamen off. I inked them, then adhered them to the Graphic 45 paper.

Instead of just 1 flower, I used the CCR and created 3 flowers in 3 sizes. I layered them and glued them together. I inked them, then sprayed them with Smooch Gold Spray. Using a paint brush, I rounded them and shaped them. When they were dry, I used Ranger Glossy Accents and MS Coarse Glitter to add some sparkle to the edges.

I like the results.

So there it is, the final challenge project!

I had a wonderful week of crafting! I hope some of these challenges inspired you to try something new too.

NSD Circleville Challenge Post: It's All About Perspective

Hi friends and fellow crafters! What a great week of crafting it has been. This will be my final post for the Circleville NSD challenges. This challenge was all about perspective, or how you can make your die cuts more dimensional. The tutorial can be found at the very talented Nadia's Blog, With Glittering Eyes, one of my favorite blogs to visit. I know I have mentioned this before, but it bears repeating, stop by her blog when you have a chance. Take a look a round and make sure to click on her gallery, you won't be disappointed.

My first attempt at trying one of her techniques was my piggy easel card. I bent and popped the piggy's ears for more dimension. I also tried her idea to glue the piggy's head down, then bend and pop the legs. I also bent and popped the snout, just a little bit. I added lots of ink to the my little pig too. I just love how it turned out.

I already entered the piggy into a challenge, so I decided I needed to make a cut that used Nadia's techniques that would be just for her challenge. I made a card for my nephew and his future wife who are expecting my future great niece. well they say they are having a girl, but with all the boys in our family, I am not 100% sure that ultrasound was correct. LOL! I cut the cute little baby from New Arrival and used that for my card.

I cut the baby and the diaper out twice using white American Crafts cardstock. I colored the baby's skin using my copics, colors E0000, E000, E01, E93 and R20 for the cheeks. Then I cut the face, arms and feet away from one of the diapers. I used pop dots to add some dimension to the hand, behind the middle  of the baby's head, and on the foot closest to the bottom. I also hand drew some little fingers, toes, and tried to dimple the baby's knees.

Here are a couple of views from the sides.

Due to needing to take care of some family issues, I wasn't able to fully embellish the card tonight. I hope to finish it in the morning and post more pictures of the complete project. Here is what it looks like right now.

Update! And here is what the card looks like finished!

I added lots of buttons to it! I computer generated the sentiment. I popped up 4 Flutterbys banner pieces on it. Flutterbys are paper garland that is made by Dear Lizzy. This is from the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection. Pretty cute, right?

I added a cute butterfly sticker from K & Company, then I blinged it up with Jolee's Crystals.

I love how it turned out! What a difference adding the extra dimension to the cut made. I will  never go back to flat cuts again!

I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there. I wish you all a happy day.

Happy Mother's Day Card: NSD Circleville Challenges: Oh The Places You'll Go & Come Color With Me, Tropical Challenge

Hi friends and fellow crafters! The crafting continues! This time, I combines two terrific challenges into one sweet little card. I took Marty's card sketch challenge and combined it with Terri's color challenge. If you are looking for the easel card tutorial and challenge, follow this link. So here is the sketch

And this is my card! Do you like the colors? Terri's challenge has us using the following colors, Yellow (maize), Pink (fuchsia), Blue (sky) Green (apple), Purple, and Hibiscus (salmon/orange). My birds are bright pink, although I am not sure why they don't look it in the picture. I think it might be the coarse glitter that I covered them with.

I used all Cricut cuts with the exception of the band on the front of the card, that is a Martha Stewart punch. The birds and the word Mom are from the CCR exclusive, Mother's Day Moments. The card is from Damask Décor. I cut it in green, then created a smaller size card in Purplr to use as the mat.
The flower is from Close To My Heart Art Philosophy. I used the chipboard that came with the cartridge when I ordered it from my dear friend Belinda. Check out her awesome blog here, not only is she a great CTMH rep, she is incredibly talented and just a beautiful person! I computer generated a sentiment and printed it in sky blue. If you would like the CCR file, it is here The papers are all from my stash. The birds and the green cardstock are from Close To My Heart, the blue and yellow are from Cricut Candy Shop and the Salmon Polka Dot on my Flower is also from Close To My Heart, Dotty For You. I blinged it up with some Jolee's Crystals, and of course, the birds are done with MS coarse glitter that I used Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere it to the birds.

I think I may be at the end of my opportunities to finish the rest of the challenges. It has been fun!

Cute As A Button NSD Circleville Challenge: The Crazy B's

Hi friends and fellow crafters! If you are looking for the easel card tutorial, it is here.

I finished another challenge for NSD Circleville! Yay me! This one was called The Crazy b's. We needed to use, Brads, Bling, Buttons and a Baby for the challenge. Terri from Scrappin With The Bug was the host for this fun challenge. Her blog is just fantastic.
I saw this layout on Scrapbook.com and pinned it, so this challenge gave me the chance to use another pin for inspiration! Here is my layout. It was a chance to use my stash of buttons in a fun way!

At first I was going to free hand the buttons for the heart, but I decided to make a base to adhere them to instead. The heart measures 6.5 by 5x8.  It's from Cricut Essentials. I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Frayed Burlap to add some color to the heart, incase anything was showing through the buttons.

Here's what it looks like finished.

I used Kate's Abc's for the title. I used the Cricut Craft Room to alter the width of the title. It is long when you first put it on the mat, I changed it have more of a square look. I also inked it with the Distress Ink. All the papers and stickers are from Echo Park, For The Record 2 collection. I added some cute boy brads across a sticker border. I was testing ideas for placing the shapes, when my son came along a pressed them down, so that is how they stayed. LOL! I like the way it looks. I added some bling to the bottom button on the heart and on a stickers. So there you have it, Baby, Brads, Bling and lots of Buttons. The CRAZY B's!

This Little Piggy: NSD Circleville Challenge: E-I-E-I-O

Hi friends and fellow crafters! Are you tired of me yet? I think I have posted more in the past 5 days then I have in the past 5 months! This will be a very short post today. If you are here for the Easel Card Tutorial, click this link. Jenny at the Cricut Circle issued a challenge for us to use a barnyard animal on a project. When I pieced the pig together, I followed Nadia's dimension tutorial on her fabulous blog, With Glittering Eyes.  Nadia is one creative paper crafter/artist. This is one blog, you really must visit! I chose the cute little piggy from County Fair and cut it at 3.8 inches. I inked the pig following Nadia's tutorial and as I put the pig together, I popped the ears in the center and glued them at the top and on the bottom. I also did the same thing with the pigs legs and snout. I loved how it turned out. Here is a close up of the pig.

Isn't this one cute piggy? Here is the card.

So you may have noticed that I didn't add a sentiment yet on my little piggy. I have two ideas for it, and I can't decide which to use.

I used Die Cut With A View, Nana's Nursery Cardstock on this card. I cut a 4.8 x 4.8 doily from Cricut Alphabet and the photo corners are from Picturesque and cut at .875 x .875. I inked them with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Spun Sugar. I inked the Green Gingham background paper with Pear Ink from Close To My Heart. I added some pearl embellishments and Prima flowers.

I am so glad that Jenny chose this challenge for us! It was really enjoyable and I just love the little piggy!

Circleville NSD Challenge: On Pins

Hi friends and fellow crafters! If you are here for my Easel Card Challenge follow this link.

Here is a challenge that finally puts all my pinning to good use. I wish blogger had smileys to insert here. LOL! The ultra talented Sis from Paper, Craft and Scissors has challenged us to try something new from Pinterest. Her blog is a great place to visit for some crafty inspiration! Stop on by when you get a chance!

I decided to try this type of layout that I found via Pinterest that led me to this blog, Casa De Ge. This blogger has some great layouts. What I liked about this technique was that you are supposed to be looking out a plane window. I didn't have a picture with a wing for my aerial picture, but I liked the way the layout turned out anyway. So what makes this a new technique for me? The windows are directly cut into the paper and the picture is also cut. Simple, right? Well, not so much for me. I went through 3 pieces of nice cardstock before I got the size right. Now, most crafters would have used a piece of scrap for a test cut, but that's not how I roll. I made good with one of the papers I left three gaping holes in by using it as a mat for the layout. The other paper is now becoming a card. At least it all ended well. LOL!

I printed a 5x7 picture that we took when we were leaving St. Croix to use for the layout. I was sure it would fit the windows, but once again, the picture was a tiny bit too short for the windows. That was when a light bulb finally came on and I cut the picture into three pieces. Duh! The picture above was how it looked when I tested it and was thrilled that it finally fit! I adhered the picture much neater and attached it to the layout. Here is my version of the Pinterest layout.

I cut the background using my Cricut. The window shapes are from Art Philosophy. The clouds are also cut with my Cricut using April Showers. The butterfly is from Spring Cottage. I printed "Yesterday is a" using my computer. Explore is a wood sticker from a Pink Paislee. I used some Washi Tape and a chipboard sticker on the bottom of the layout. The three tags on the top are from October Afternoon as is the brad in the cloud that says "Blue Skies". I attempted to do that splash thing that everyone does on layouts these days. I am not sure how I like it, but it's there, so I can't change it now. I doodled around the windows with my shaky hand. LOL!

The background paper is Little Yellow Bicycle and the plane window if from K & Company. Everything is from my stash!

I am very excited that I completed yet another NSD project! I hope to get at least one more done over the next couple of days!

NSD Circleville Challenge: One Sheet Wonder

If you are looking for the Easel Card Challenge, it is here

Hi friends and fellow crafters! Here is my project for Scrappy Mama's Challenge at the Circle MB for NSD's weekend festivities. Are you wondering why it is called "One Sheet Wonder"? It is an accordion mini album made from 1 sheet of paper. Mine is a 12x12 sheet of Graphic 45's Secret Garden Paper. I added a rose from Art Philosophy and a couple of Prima roses to the cover.

Creating the book was easy peasey. I cut two strips at 4.5 in height. Then I scored the paper at 3.5 inches as per Scrappy Mama's directions.  There were two little edges hanging over. I cut one off and used the other edge to attach the sheets. It looked like this.

The picture below show what it looks like opened.

I was going through some pictures the other day, when I came upon a baggie with some wallet photos in it. That gave me the idea for the challenge. I took 5 High School Graduation pictures of my dear friends and used them for this mini. I am so blessed that over 30 years later, I am still as close to them as I was in 1980. Sadly, my girlfriend in the 2nd picture passed away in December 2005. I still miss her and think of her as my guardian angel. I scanned the messages on the back of each picture and used them as journaling. I also hand wrote a little note about each of my friends. I used my original pictures and I didn't want to ruin them, so I popped up the frames and slid the pictures inside.

On the back, I popped up the picture and slid a little tag with everyone's names inside. I embellished the mini with some Cricut Butterflies from Spring Cottage, Prima roses, and some little pearls and crystals.  All the frames are cut from my Cricut. I used Elegant Edges for 4 of the frames and Fancy Frames for 1 of the frames.

On the back page, I popped up the picture and tucked a little tag away with everyone's names. I also added a computer generated sentiment that I printed.

So this is my One Sheet Wonder, I hope you like it! I found this to be a wonderful challenge and I know I'll be creating more of these in the future!

NSD Circleville Challenge, Go Big or Go Home

Hi friends and fellow crafters!
Another NSD Circleville challenge completed! This challenge came from Sara and was to use something BIG on your project. It could be a picture or title, or even both. Details are at her blog, Sara W. Andrews. Her blog has the best scrapbook layouts and paper craft projects on it. If you have a chance, you should check it out.

I guess you can tell that I went big with my title, LOL! I followed Sara's lead and used the negative for the title cut. Can you dig it? I added 2 little flags and used a old fashioned punch label maker to add "we have a" and "kind of" to the title. I don't know if anyone remembers that song but me. LOL!

I used Die Cut With A View Chalkboard Cardstock and Cricut Candy Shop Cardstock for this layout. I designed it in the CCR so if you would like the file, I will add a link at the end of the post. I used Groovy Times for the entire layout. I used DoodleBug Flocking on most of the flowers. There are a couple that I used some Martha Stewart Glitter on. I added three heart brads on my picture. The picture was taken in 2002 at my BFF Colleen's 40th Birthday Party. We have a 60's theme for it, that's why we are in the tye dye shirts. I hand wrote the journaling in yellow Prisma pencil and just for fun, I wrote "I dig you" on the layout. I love those smiley faces. LOL!

NSD Weekend Celebration Challenge Post - Tic Tac Toe

If you are looking for the Easel Card challenge, it is here.

Tic Tac Toe, Three In A Row!

This was a fun challenge from Paulette. She makes some incredible altered boxes. You can check out her blog, here. I went with three right down the center. I made a gable box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2. I've never made a gable box before, so it was fun. For my Circle Cart, I used Something To Remember. I cut New Baby at 3.25 x 2.9. I used a couple of little itty bitty buttons on the flowers.
Finally, I added some lace trim around the top. I used DCWV Nana's Nursery, Baby Girl cardstock for the whole project, except on the leaves on New Baby. I cut that with AC white cardstock and colored it with a green copic marker. I inked some of the cuts. I decorated both sides of the box.

I plan on filling the box with some little baby goodies and a gift card for my new great niece that we are expecting in the family in August.

National Scrapbook Day Circleville Celebration Challenge Projects

Hi friends and fellow crafters! National Scrapbook Day Celebrations continue all a round Circleville. Today there was a one hour challenge to use a Cricut Circle Cartridge cut on a card or layout. I used Rock On from Out Of Character. Here is a one hour scrapbook page.

Before
My One Hour Layout

After

To earn an extra drawing for a gift card, Sara asked us to post a before and after picture of our table. Not much difference in mine! LOL!

Here is a close up of the layout. I spent a little too much time fussing over the Rock On cut that I didn't finish the page the way I really wanted it to look. I may play with it later.

I used DCWV papers for the whole layout. Rock On was made using my new favorite, Glitzy Glitter and the mat and background are DCWV Chalk Board Paper. I doodled on it with Prisma pencils and added some stars and music notes I had hanging around on my table.

That was fun!

Circleville NSD Celebration! Ease On Down The Road, An Easel Card Tutorial

Hi Everyone! Welcome to National Scrapbooking Day! I am so happy to be sharing a tutorial and challenge with everyone today.

I love easel cards. I can say without a doubt, they are my favorite cards to create. I learned to make these from a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers a few years ago and I’d like to share how I create them with you.

You will need a scoring board, paper trimmer, a nice strong piece of cardstock, adhesive and whatever you choose for embellishments. You can use 12 x 12 or 8.5 x 11. For this tutorial, I am using a 12 x 12 piece of DCWV Shimmer Stack cardstock.

The first step is to cut your cardstock. I want my card to stand about 5 inches high and be 5 inches wide. I am going to cut the cardstock at 10 inches long and 5 inches wide.

Next, I score the card. I prefer to score the half 1st. So in the picture below, I have scored the card at 5 inches.  Some people prefer to score the easel bend 1st.

Next, score at 2.5 inches. So an easy way to remember your folds for an easel card is fold half, then fold half in half.  If you remember that, you can make easel cards in many different sizes.

Here is how it looks folded.

Use a strong adhesive to attach your 5 x 5 square. You will attach the square at the top edge of the flap

Once it is attached, it should look like this if you turn it on it's side.

Below is a picture of how it should look from the side when you stand it up. I used the Dew Drops container to hold it in place. Once your card is decorated, your base will keep the card upright. Now you are ready to decorate your card! Wasn't that easy?

To decorate my card, I used a cute digital stamp and my Cricut. I chose a stamp from Saturated Canary called Lily, Bo and Peep. I colored her with my Copics, and fussy cut her from the rest of the image. I cut 2 squares from Bazzill Swiss Dots paper in blue that were 4.75 inches and adhered them to the base of the card and the top. I also cut 2 rectangles to add to the back of the card and the inside of the easel fold.

I cut the Gate section of the Gazebo from Spring Cottage at 4.65 x 7.25. I also cut the flowers and ferns from Spring Cottage. The flowers are 1 inch. The ferns are 1 x 1.85 inches. I didn't use all the layers since I knew I was going to place them behind grass on the card. The grass is cut from Plantin School Book.  I cut the grass at 1 inch high by 4.65 inches long.  I used Mowed Lawn Distress Ink on the grass and bent the blades.

I used Copics to color the flowers and ferns.  Once they were on the card, I added Jolee's Crystals to some of the flowers to give them some shimmer.

I adhered Lily to the gazebo gate, then began layering the flowers around her feet. Once I had an idea of how I wanted the flowers, I made sure the grass wasn't going to completely cover them and adhered the flowers, then the grass.

I added an additional layer of the pearl cardstock I used for the easel to the bottom of the card. I used a Nestabilities scalloped oval and cut one in the Bazzill Swiss Dots paper and a smaller one using the DCWV pearl cardstock. I stamped my sentiment from Sampim Up's May 2012 stamp of the month, Friendship set.  I embellished the smaller oval with more Jolee's crystals. I also cut some butterflies from Straight From The Nest to add to the card and sentiment.

Here is one more look at the card.

I hope this inspires your to try an easel card. If you would like to enter my challenge, add your link below for a chance to win a $15.00 gift card from Michael's. Make an easel card and add your link before Sunday, May 12. A winner will be randomly chosen and announced on Monday, May 13th.
