Christmas In July Week 2 - Christmas Cards

Hi friends and fellow crafters! Welcome to week 2 of our Christmas In July Blog Hop! If you are coming from Fran's Blog then you are in the right place! Isn't she creative? If you are just dropping by, head on back to Paulette's blog for a chance to win this week's prize, a Christmas Cards Cartridge! Leave a comment on everyone's blog and you will earn entries into the drawings!

Here's this week's line up:

Colleen at http://scrappycol.blogspot.com/ You Are Here!

My card this week is for my future Great Niece. She is due in August, but ever since I found out my nephew and niece were expecting, I have baby on the brain. LOL! I am sure I will make a few more for her before Christmas arrives. I used the CCR to create the card and if you would like the file, I will add it to the bottom of this post. I started by cutting the baby from New Arrival. I cut the top layer twice so that I could add some dimension to it like our friend Nadia taught us back on NSD. I also cut a Santa Hat from Paper Doll Dress Up and sized it to fit the baby's head using the CCR. I colored the baby using my copics and put her together using pop dots. I cut the Santa hat twice, once in SEI Red Velvet paper and once in white cardstock. I cut the red pom pom and rim off, then attached the red to the white hat. I added white Doodle Bug Flock to the rim and I used Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter on the pom-pom.

I did the same thing with the reindeer  from Paper Doll Dress Up. I cut the hooves from the white reindeer and colored them with copics. I didn't like them, so I added some Ranger Glossy Accents to them and added Martha Stewart glitter. I also put a dab of Glossy Accents on the reindeer's nose and added some glitter to that as well. I used SEI Brown Velvet paper to cut the reindeer out, so to add some accents to it, I needed to use acrylic paints. I used pink for the ears, and white for the tail and antlers.

I cut three sleds from Paper Doll Dress Up. One in green, one in white and one where I hid contours in kraft paper. This gave me a chance to add layers where there weren't any on the original cuts. I cut the center from the white sled and used Glossy Accents to add Martha Stewart Glitter to it. Then I added Martha Stewart Glitter to the bottom of the sled. I popped that up on the base. Before I did that, I glued my baby, some presents and a Christmas Tree down on the sled's base. The presents are from Birthday Bash and the tree is from Paper Doll Dress Up.

Above is a close up of the sled. The little silver dots are from my stash. I have no idea where they came from. LOL! I hand cut a present for the baby to hold and popped it up. I folded one of the baby's hands around it to make it look like the baby was holding it.

For the base of the card, I cut Baby's 1st Christmas using Something To Remember.

The flowers are from Jolees. I had them in my stash. I also added some ribbon and twine to the card. All the patterned papers are from K&Company. The pink and green cardstock are from Close To My Heart.

I have been having so much fun creating Christmas In July projects. Since Christmas is the season of giving, I am having another drawing this week. I am giving away a Cricut Snow Day Seasonal Cartridge to one lucky commenter on this blog post. I will be announcing the winner on July 20th.

Here is the download link for the file. Baby's 1st Christmas Card
